Sport Companies go to Facebook to promote their product. Billions of people have a Facebook, and probably most of the accounts like companies like Nike and Adidas. So now the two companies are able to promote their product by posting a product being used. The more and more likes the post gets, the more that it gets out, and the more popular it becomes.

In running, Facebook can support how runners are and what runners do and wear. Followers of Facebook may post occasional posts on what runners do. Telling everyone about what they eat and what a workout was. Facebook is for use by everyone, and you may be promoting a product and not even know it.

Popular Sports companies that have accounts on Facebook, post their products, from basketball to soccer to football, all the way down to running. Nike, Adidas, Mizuno, Asics, they all sell running items. For popular and famous companies don't have the hardest time getting their name and product out.

Not everyone runs, not everyone goes out and runs 8 miles. But a more common thing to happen, is that people wear expensive and nice running shoes for no reason. They wear $100-$200 worth shoes to just walk around in. They may be working out for other sports in these shoes or clothes, but why buy these expensive shoes and not use them to every penny you spent, by running

  1. So, how does a new company compete to get the attention of the right consumer against the marketing behemoths like Nike and Under Armour? How can you take a tiny budget against the billions of dollars spent by the big guys and get any attention at all? Under Armour is a 19 year old company but it was not very well known until about 12 years ago and now they are a very well known sports brand. That is pretty rapid growth. How did they do it? By having a founder that did a lot of hard work out of his grandma's basement and not paying himself for 9 years. By getting NFL players to wear their product, sponsoring premier athletes, getting placement in the right movie, and by a well-timed and well-placed magazine ad. Their early growth trend that established a brand was done mostly before the explosion of social media. Could a new brand become as big as Under Armour is today by doing the same things? Or would they need to focus much more on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, etc? And, if so, how would such a marketing plan look?
